Aussie Rules

For the last couple of weeks we have had people come in and teach us how to play Rugby with Australians rules. They have taught us a lot of new things and it is very cool. Here is a slideshow with us in action.

Mrs Richards

For the last 5 weeks we had a student teacher who came in from Waikato University. Her name is Mrs Richards and she is a Chinese. We had her for a total of 5 weeks and she had her final day on Friday the 16th of September 2011. Her favorite hobbie is Knitting. When she left she made our class a feast of different kinds of Chinese foods. I really enjoyed having her and we will miss her !

Rugby World Cup Night

On Friday I went down to the Viaduct Habour in Town for the Rugby World Cup Opening.
Before 4pm everyone took there places to see the arrivals of the Maori Waka that came through. Every waka represented each Nation in the Rugby World Cup. They were welcomed by their Kaikaranga.

In the front it was packed so I pushed my way through to get a better view. When they did the Haka it was really cool because they looked like true Maoris with their Taiaha, their Maori patterns and the uniform they were wearing. When they did the Haka some people that I was standing next to were scared and I found that really funny.

The thing that really annoyed me was that there were too much people and they kept on pushing and shoving.

When it was 6pm we left to go home. But when we got to the train station it was packed and we had to stand up and wait for a very long time.

I was finally at home just in time to watch the Opening Ceremony with no people to annoy me. The Opening Ceremony was spectacular with all of the Fireworks and Entertainment, they were at the Sky Tower, Viaduct and at Mt. Eden. I’m sure that it took them a very long time to put it together and alot of hard work as well.

I had a really cool day and night and if you were there or if you watched it I hope you enjoyed it.

Rugby Sevens Champions 2011

This morning our school Pt England welcomed back our year 8 boys who went down to Tauranga to play Rugby Sevens.

They left on Sunday the 28th of August and they arrived back here in Auckland, Pt England on Friday night on the 2nd of September as the New Zealands Champions.

As we heard the updates at the end of their games we were extremely happy because all the updates that we received were very good. They won every game that they played.

Royal Oak Intermediate were the National Champions and our team challenged them in the Grand Finals. When we heard that they were challenging the champions we were really happy and we were  hoping that Pt England would win. After the game finished we heard that they had beaten Royal Oak and the score was 31 - 5 to us.

So there it is, Pt England year 8 Sevens Rugby Team are the New Zealand National Champions.
