Taonga Time

Every Fridays for a hour and a half the year 7 and 8’s have Taonga Time with different teachers and in different classes. If you don’t no what Taonga means, it is the Maori word for Treasure.
We have Taonga Time to learn about different passions about our teachers. At the moment the groups are Team Building, Music, Sports and Kapa Haka.

The group that I am in is Kapa Haka, my teacher is Miss Tito. For Kapa Haka we learn new songs, dances and we learn to do Mihimihis. When we have Powhiris and Outings we get to perform in front of them.

Our first session of Kapa Haka was awesome, and I cant wait for this Friday because we will be having Taonga Time again.
I am happy that I am in Kapa Haka because I like performing, singing and dancing in front of people.
That is what Taonga Time is about here at Pt. England School.

Creativity

In Room 22 we have been learning about Creativity.
Creativity is a thinking skill.

• Create something which has never existed before
• Create something which exists elsewhere but you are not aware of
• Create a new process for doing something
• Reapply an existing process or product into a new or different market
• Develop a new way of looking at something (bringing a new idea into existence)
• Change the way someone else looks at something

For our first task we had make our name creatively. We had to make ours look the best and stand out among every ones name. This is what I came up with:

Term 1 Reflection

Last term I was pleased with my Reading Results. I received excellent in my work habits, behavior and academic progress. I was really proud of myself and so were my parents.

This term I need to improve in my writing. I need to focus on writing interesting stories.
I am not at the level that I should be at. My parents and I weren't very happy with my results for writing. I hope I improve this term.

I had a great term. I hope a have another great term with great results in my next report.
