Tennis Sessions with Marcel

"Thrash" went the tennis ball as I hit it with the tennis racket.

Our new sports for this term is Tennis. Every Wednesday my class Room 22 have tennis lessons with a professional Tennis player who comes in and teaches us how to play tennis and his name is Marcel.

When we had our first session with him he taught us the basics of tennis. For our first activity we just got given a tennis ball and racket. This was an easy task to do, we had to hit the ball up and down to see how much we can get in a row without dropping the ball and losing control of it.

Our second activity and in this one he showed us how to hit the ball on the strings and then on the rounding of the racket. This seemed a bit hard but since he is professional of course it was really easy for him to do it. But when I tried to do it, it was really hard and I was getting confused and I was getting a bit annoyed.

At last he taught us how to play a game, that game is called King of the Court. In this game my class went against him to see who will be the King of the Court. We were getting our hopes up since it was 32 students against one professional player. When it was my turn I didn't really want to do it because it felt embarrassing if I lost, but it quite really didn't matter because I am a rookie anyways. In the end he took it out but I think it was just about us having fun.

The aim of tennis is concentration. You also have to control where you are hitting the ball. You also have to be fit and active because you have to move around a lot.

This is like my first time actually playing proper tennis and I think it is a very fun and active game. Marcel is a very good teacher and teaches us very well. I can't wait until our next session and to see what we are going to learn.

Halloween

What does Halloween mean to me? Now that I am in intermediate I think it is embarrassing to go trick or treating for lollies. Anyways Halloween is a Britain thing and is mainly celebrated in Britain and the American area.

When I was little it was really fun going trick or treating because you get heaps of lollies. At this age the only place I like to go trick or treating is in Mission Bay and St Helliers or Glendowie area because that is a nice and friendly suburb. When you go trick or treating in that area instead of getting lollies they give you money which is really kind and generous because you can buy your own things with the money.

Do you celebrate and like Halloween ?
