Being a role model and leaders of the school

Next year us year 7s at Pt England School will become the leaders of the school for next year. This week our year 8 students have gone on their last camp for the school. This is a good opportunity to bond and spend their last times together because when it comes to college everyone will be splitting up and there are chances that they wont see each other again.

Since our leaders of the school have gone on camp our teachers are looking and watching out for hard working, responsible, nice students that stand out from the rest to be our prefects and house captains for next year.

A good role model should be nice. They treat others respectfully so the younger children can grow up and be like them. They need to be hard working because sometimes it can be hard being leaders and some may not be ready to be leaders.

Someone in the year 8s that have really stood out for me is April O’Brien. She is intelligent, sporty, a good role model and she is a really good person to look up to. People will be inspired of her and would like to be like her.

Netbook Reflection

This year Pt England senior students from year 5-8 recieved their Netbooks. In term 3 we started taking our Netbooks home and the government and schools put TLN Manaiakalani wireless gadgets so us students in the Manaiakalani cluster can connect to the Internet and do our work at home.

The thing that I like about having our netbooks is that we can do our work using electronic technology. When we move on we can no how to use different tools to do our work. It is really nice knowing how to use our netbooks and it is better then doing our work in our books. We also have a experience actually using them.

There are also things that I don't like about using our Netbooks. When we use our books we can't muck around and we can actually finish our work, but now that we have our netbooks we tend to muck around a lot some of us don't finish as much work as we usually do.

It is easier using a netbook because you can do more work and it is easy to correct your mistakes. You can store your work and still access it. We can also do our work by not using the Internet because we still have other accessiories to use on our netbooks.

Overall I have really enjoyed using my netbook and I hope it can carry on for our younger generations.

Tagata Pasifika

This morning at Pt England School in Room 22 my class, people from the show Tagata Pasifika came in and did abit of filming with us.

When they came in we were all nervous and really really shy of the camera. Osone Okesene explained to us what will happen during that time.

After that his self and his camera crew started filming. During that time we were making Christmas Decorations out of a mixture dough of salt, flour and water. He asked us questions like What do you like about Christmas, What do you do on Christmas and about what we were making.

The first group that he was talking to were the girls right beside me which were Vaha and Tule. They were nervous. Then he went to Tui and it was funny because I was sitting right next to him too.

Overall I really think that we represented our commuity, family, school and our selves really well and I can’t wait until we are on Tagata Pasifika.
